Hail Damage is almost always covered by your car insurance via comprehensive and collision coverage.
Hail Damage happens to the best of us, and it’s not something we can stop.
It can strike anytime and anywhere, mostly in the summer months.
We leave our car outside our houses, or we run in to get groceries, or we are at work. We are vulnerable a lot of the time, but the good news is your hail damage is most likely covered by your insurance policy, and your car issues will be rectified.
So, you are going to need to check your policy.
For your hail damage to be covered, you need comprehensive and collision coverage on your policy. If you have both of these on your policy, YOU ARE COVERED. Comprehensive is also known as “other than collision” coverage. It covers situations that aren’t covered by your collision coverage, like fire, vandalism, hitting a deer and damages from severe weather and natural disasters like hail.
Comprehensive coverage will pay for repairs on your car or replace your vehicle if it is damaged beyond repair. This is called a total loss. Your car is “totaled” if the value of your vehicle is more than repairs. Simply stated, this is a process called salvage value.
Side note, if you DO NOT have comprehensive coverage, please come by the shop and see what we can do for you. Don’t just give up and drive a damaged car. We’ve worked directly with nearly every insurance company in Georgia and know their policies.
We can give you a quick estimate of what the damage will cost to repair and talk to you about your options for repair without insurance.
Hail repair is possible without insurance, and a lot of our customers who are paying for the cost of repairs out of pocket have options. We would love to discuss those with you. It is very similar to the process with the insurance company.
Hail Damage is considered an “act of God,” so it does not go against your insurance, rates, or premiums. They can’t hold it against you. It does go against our rates as a communal area.
Consider any kind of storm damages as an area; the policies will all increase whether you claim damages or not. So filing a claim and having the repairs completed is definitely in your best interest.
If you are reading this, you possibly have damage, and you need to claim it. Our job as a repair shop is to help you walk through the hail/storm damage. We want to make things easy for you as our customer.
We have years of experience working some of Georgia’s worst storm events, and this process is not new to us, and it can be stressful and nerve-racking for you. It’s not something you have to do regularly. We are your experts! Here’s a step by step process of what will happen and the steps you need to take. We are here for you.
Step One
Call your insurance company now. They are going to ask you for a few pieces of information, such as the date of the storm, where you were, and your policy information. Make sure you have all that information ready.
The statute of limitations for hail repair in Georgia is 4 years. This means that if the hail happens on January 1, 2018, the last day you can file a claim for that storm is 4 years later on January 1, 2022.
Talk to your insurance company and know they may try and move you into their “preferred shop.” Important information: You do not have to, and should not go to one of these shops.
All work is warrantied the same way. We will warranty your work, just like the insurance companies’ shops. They are getting paid on VOLUME; we are not a volume shop. We care about you and want to restore your car to the way it was before the hail storm happened. We believe in quality work, not quantity. Our name is on this for years, and we want to be the shop you come back to for years.
Step Two
Choose a shop where you are comfortable. Choose a dent repair shop based on the following: trust, your gut, and reputation. We are going to be repairing one of your largest purchases besides probably your home and something that gets you from point A to B daily, and your safety and restoration of this are imperative to us. Our job is to make this easy for you, as easy as we can.
Step Three
Swing by so we can do an assessment, and you can meet us. Let’s be friends. We are obsessed with your experience here and the way you can understand that is with a face to face meeting with us. We can look at your car and answer any questions you have for us.
Step Four
You are always welcome to email us with any questions about hail, insurance, or any car questions at info@ezdentrepair.com or call us. Our number is (706) 308-3368
